MEET OUR PASTOR
RevTammy Mitchell

Before Reverend Mitchell became a Pastor, even before she went to seminary to be a military chaplain, Rev. Mitchell had God ordained assignments. She balanced family life, being in the United States Army, being an educator at Lakewood High school, charitable work and entrepreneurship and always managed to stay on task, about her Father’s business.

From 2003 to 2020 she served the people of God, alongside her husband until his untimely passing in December 2020. Although her partner is no longer physically here, Rev. Tammy Mitchell continues to carry the torch and preach the gospel with the memory of her husband serving as a reminder that her family, her marriage…her very life is her Ministry.

Tammy Mitchell has been the Pastor of the members of Bethel AME Church of Lakewood NJ since 2005. Divine providence would have Bethel members merge with the congregants of Wells Chapel AME Church in 2016. After uniting and being renamed Remnant AME Church, their mission of “letting love be their highest goal,” 1 Corinthians 14:1, continues to prevail.

Reverend Tammy Mitchell truly practices what she preaches, she gives of herself both in words and in deeds. She is a confident and insightful motivational speaker, counselor and prayer warrior. More than anything she longs to share the word of God with each person she meets in the most unique way. God made a call and Rev. Mitchell continues to answer and serve the people of God with grace and love.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Mathew 28:18-20.
